Compelling mother-son short film stars Barbara Sukowa to screen at 2025 Sundance Film Festival
Los Angeles, CA (January 9, 2025). Sofia Camargo and Joseph Longo’s short WE’RE NOT DONE YET takes a funny and touching look at a mother-son dynamic. It captures the struggles and joys of growing up and moving on. The story follows Alex on a visit to his mother Bettina’s beach house for a weekend. There he confronts his own controlling nature. Alex is played by the director Joseph Longo, with the mother portrayed by his real-life mom, the internationally renowned German actress Barbara Sukowa.
Logline: Alex visits his newly single mother for a weekend at her beach house. When he is confronted with her new independence, Alex is forced to face his own controlling nature.
Director Sofia Camargo is a Colombian filmmaker based in San Francisco. Her short film Al lado del río (2019) got the NALIP Jury Award. It featured at the Cartagena International Film Festival, and was in selection as a Vimeo Staff Pick. Her cinematography has hit Berlinale, Aspen ShortFest, and the New York African Film Festival. In 2023, she received the Vienna Shorts Jury Prize for Best Cinematography.
Writer and director Joseph Longo holds an MFA in film from NYU. As a producer his shorts have screened at Cannes, TIFF, and Palm Springs. He produced the feature film A Perfect Day For Caribou starring Charlie Plummer (Locarno 2022). Joseph starred in the anthology dark comedy What Doesn’t Float (2023). Currently, he’s writing his debut feature Lost at the Beach of Sunken Ships. It is based on the world of We’re Not Done Yet and developing the ongoing production of Lou & Joe Present….
Producer Louis Anania is a New York-based filmmaker graduated with a Bachelor’s in Literature from Eugene Lang College. He produced Sweet Thing (2020), winner of the Crystal Bear at Berlin and nominee for the 2022 Cassavetes Award. He is an actor in films since 2009. Louis is the art director for afe (2021), which hit Cannes.
Pauline Glomaud-Murmann is a New York film producer who started as an assistant at Schenk Productions. She worked on projects ranging from indie films like Unintended and Mickey and the Bear to major productions like Ibiza, The Rhythm Section, and Tokyo Vice. She produced Calvin Demba’s short BabyDolls and was an associate producer on Stephen Moyer’s feature A Bit of Light. Recently, Pauline wrapped the second season of Goosebumps (Hulu Disney+) and is currently working on Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2.
