indieactivity: How did you get your start?
Victoria: I’ve been performing professionally as a ballet dancer since I was 6, but I started auditioning for TV shows & films in 1997 in New York City.
indieactivity: Dis you study acting?
Victoria: Yes, I studied both in college at New York University (I have a degree in Theatre Arts & Broadcast Journalism) & at post-graduate programs in Los Angeles, CA.
indieactivity: What acting technique do you use?
Victoria: I use a combination of Sanford Meisner’s, Lee Strasberg’s, & Konstantin Stanislavski’s technique.
indieactivity: Your are an amazing and experienced actor, how much work do you put into your scenes?
Victoria: I break every character down & dissect her from the page. I create everything-from how she sounds, talks, moves, walks, thinks, wants, feels, behaves, looks-everything, based on want she says in the script.
indieactivity: You have worked on gems like “Deadpool”, “In The Company of Strangers”, “Horroween” and Jim Town’s “State of Desolation”, “Aliens vs. Titanic”, “Dracula in a Women’s Prison”, and “The Blessed Ones”. How does each one of those great projects impact your career?
Victoria: I played the live action “demon spirit” of “Annabelle” at the Warner Bros live ‘Annabelle Creation’ west coast exhibits in Los Angeles to promote the release of the film. The best comment from a fan’s reaction to my performance was, “that was better than Disneyland!” I was mostly cut out of ‘Deadpool’ & my deleted scenes are not on the DVD/Blu-Ray either, Lol.
I loved the wild club drugs/orgy party scene in ‘In The Company Of Strangers’. ‘Horrorween’ was the first feature film I worked on with a shit ton of celebrities in it, lol. The first time I ever did Not recognize Myself in a trailer of one of my films was watching ‘State Of Desolation. ‘Aliens Vs. Titanic’ is the first indie feature film to license one of my punk/pop rock songs “So Long” in two huge scenes in the movie! ‘Dracula In A Women’s Prison’ is the sexiest, funniest film I’ve ever seen. It’s available now to rent or buy on Vimeo OnDemand.
Thanks to ‘The Blessed Ones’ being picked up by over 750 Family Video stores nationwide & in Canada, I’m Back in a video store! You can also rent or buy it on Amazon & VOD.
indieactivity: How does the work you do on one show, say “Anabelle: Creation” Compare to another, say “State of Desolation”? They’re all very different experiences I imagine?
Victoria: Yes, they were completely different. My job for Warner Bros’ ‘Annabelle Creation’ was their live action Los Angeles exhibition events to promote the release of the film-not on the actual feature film. ‘State Of Desolation’ is a micro-low budget indie movie.
indieactivity: How do you create a written character into a person? Where do you begin?
Victoria: I create them three dimensionally from what my character says and does on the written page of the script. It all begins with the script.
indieactivity: How did you stay fresh and energized on a production?
Victoria: I try and get as much sleep as possible when I’m in production on a project in between working out and working on set. And, I stay hydrated, always.
indieactivity: Explain on creative choice you took on the set of “State of Desolation”?
Victoria: When I was pounding on the door trying to get in to kill my father, I really went berserk during the takes trying to get through that closed door on Craig Stark’s POV shots on the other side of the door off camera before it opened for my shots. I didn’t “phone it in” because I was off camera & it worked because when I came through that door you understand why he does what he does, lol!
indieactivity: Who do you think is your most memorable character?
Victoria: So far, my most memorable character on film that has been released and is available to see, rent, or buy is the demon succubus clown from Hell female lead character “Batty Boop” from the horror/comedy feature series ‘Killjoy’. A “Batty Boop” resin doll statue/action figure will be available worldwide on fullmoondirect.com as well as my new website victoriademare.com mid-September 2017.
indieactivity: What do you want most from a director?
Victoria: For him or her to tell me exactly what they want from my character in each scene.
indieactivity: What actors do you long to work with and why?
Victoria: I long to work with Gary Oldman, Christian Bale, Mark Wahlberg, Leonardo DiCaprio, Juliette Lewis, Cate Blanchett, Rachel McAdams, & Tom Cruise because they all inspire me for one reason or another.
indieactivity: What advice would you give actors around the world?
Victoria: f you want to make a living at it, you have to be prepared to dedicate your life to it. There’s no one way to achieve your goals & dreams, so make a plan & go for it & don’t ever listen to someone discouraging you to go & do something you’re passionate about.
indieactivity: Are you happy with where your career has taken you?
Victoria: I’m thrilled, grateful, & honored. And, most importantly, I’m ecstatic about what the future will bring!
