Mike Donahue’s OSCAR® qualifying Troy a darkly comedic tale of New York neighbours

Los Angeles, CA (Oct. 19, 2023). Director Mike Donahue’s Troy follows Thea and Charlie. Who are neighbours with Troy who has astronomically loud sex regularly, they soon become completely engrossed in Troy’s life and not just the sex they start to unravel the person that is Troy from behind their neighbouring wall at home.

This comedic film touches on the ways in which we become interwoven in the lives of strangers. The film Troy has qualified for the 96th Academy® awards after winning the Jury award at Aspen Shortfest 2023.

In Troy there loud sex. Troy has loud sex 24/7. It shares a wall with Thea and Charlie. Troy is ruining their lives… Or is he saving them? Director Mike Donahue is a graduate of Harvard University and the Yale School of Drama. Prior to making his debut film Troy he worked extensively as a theatre director in New York and Los Angeles.

Just some of his extensive credits include the world premieres of Matthew Lopez’s The Legend Of Georgia McBride, Jen Silverman’s Collective Rage, The Moors, Ana Nogueira’s Which Way To The Stage, Ethan Lipton’s Red-Handed Otter, the LA Premiere of Matthew Lopez’s The Inheritance and Little Shop Of Horrors with MJ Rodriguez and Amber Riley.

Writer Jen Silverman (they/them) is a playwright, screenwriter, and novelist. Plays include Span, Collective Rage, The Moors, The Roomate and Witch. Jen is the author of the story collection The Island Dwelers and novels We Play Ourselves and There’s Going To Be Trouble (coming from Random House April 2024). She is currently writing screenplays for Annapurna, Amblin, Film Four (UK), and Karyn Kusama’s company Family Style among others. Jen has written on shows such as Tales Of The City for Netflix and Tokyo Vice for HBO/ Max.

Producer Evan Jonigkeit is a producer with an Emmy nomination producer. His credits include Stand For Rights, a benefit for the ACLU, in addition to a number of independent films and commercials. He was also part of the producing teams for the 2017 ESPY awards. His previous Tribeca premieres are Fabled Mildred and the Dying Parlor.

As an actor, Evan’s recent film and tv credits include Archieve 81, Sweetbitter, The Night House, X X-Men Days Of Future Past amongst many others. His upcoming films are Someone I Used To Know (dir. Dave Franco), and Manodrome (dir. John Trengove).
