Suffering is a comedic and unapologetic approach to engagement, exploring new perspectives and the fundamental differences between the way men and women think and feel. Silencing the notion Men are From Mars and Women are from Venus.
Logline: “After five years of relationship bliss, Aaron proposes to his girlfriend Layla. Oblivious to the complications of engagement, expectation, and marriage, both embark on a journey of suffering”.
Suffering is a fresh comedy web series created by award winning filmmakers Sinitta Monero and Christien Bart-Gittens, which tells the story of newly engaged couple Aaron and Layla. Oblivious to the complications and expectations of engagement and marriage, both embark on a long journey of Suffering.
Produced by Monreel Entertainment & Silent Temple Films, this will be the second collaboration for the pair after joining forces in 2017. “ We became tired of the ongoing debate regarding diversity in the industry, having access to free digital platforms, we both decided it was time for us to let our voices be heard. Suffering will act as a platform to develop a diverse UK TV Series showcasing positive BAME talent within a meaningful lighthearted story”.
We were fortunate enough to work with an amazing cast and crew who were able to bring this story to life, whilst understanding our core aim of collaborative filmmaking. We have some amazing talent attached to the show including two-time award-winning screenwriter Sinitta Monero, award-winning filmmaker Christien Bart-Gittens, Oscar award-winning Gaffer Neal Parsons and BEFFTA award-winning actress Adi Alfa.
One of our key goals was to create a show using diverse cast and crew, without hitting stereotypical topics which are all too often found in BAME focused content.
What we have with Suffering is a story that is relevant, and more importantly, relatable to everyone and not just a specific ethnic, sexual or gender group. The Series is expected to screen in late October, with a premiere on digital platforms later in the year. It will also be submitted on to the festival circuit
