Jared Cohn Writer/Director of the highly anticipated Lynyrd Skynyrd Biopic fought hard to get this story of the band and their tragic plane crash that claimed front man Ronnie Van Zant, to the big screen.

In 1977, a plane carrying Southern rock legends LYNYRD SKYNYRD mysteriously runs out of gas mid-air en route to a concert, crashing into a dangerous Louisiana swamp while killing several of the band members, crew and both pilots. STREET SURVIVORS: The True Story of The Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash tells the story through one of the survivor; drummer Artimus Pyle, who not only survived the fatal crash (that claimed the life of the band’s founder and front man Ronnie Van Zant amongst others), but who also bravely pulled the remaining survivors out of the plane wreckage before staggering towards the nearest farmhouse in rural Louisiana to seek help.

The movie centers on Artimus Pyle (Drummer) experience as a band member in Lynyrd Skynyrd and the tragically fateful day the plane they rented crashed late evening into the swamp of Gillsburg, MS on October 20th, 1977. The crash took the lives of Ronnie Van Zant (lead singer), Steve Gaines (guitarist), his sister Cassie Gaines (backup singer), Dean Kilpatrick (road manager) and the two pilots. The Jared Cohn movie focuses on the hours leading up to the crash, the crash-day and its aftermath.
