SAG Indie, just notified us that it’s Black History Month, and their friends at The Blackhouse Foundation pointed us to a great opportunity for filmmakers of color, and we wanted to spread the word. BET Networks and Paramount Players have partnered up to offer undiscovered writer/directors a chance to produce their work.
The inaugural Project Cre8 competition accepts feature-length screenplays that depict characters of color and storylines depicting the experiences of and issues facing people of African descent. The winning screenplay will be purchased for $50,000, and BET and Paramount Players will work with the winner to produce a $1 million-budget feature film.
Submissions close on March 3, 2018.
Paramount Players is a film studio division of Paramount Pictures, focusing on “contemporary properties” while working with other Viacom brands.
