Inspiring Liverpool-based drama RYAN CAN’T READ qualifies for the 97th Academy® Awards

Director and co-writer Rhys Chapman first came onto the scene with Wonderkid. The short film campaign challenging homophobia in football. The project first gained widespread attention after launching a crowdfunding campaign with the help and support of Sir Ian McKellen. Wonderkid premiered at the Raindance Film Festival before receiving its television debut with Sky Sports. After holding over 100 screenings with organizations in football, including one special underground LGBT event in Russia. The film was launched online and has enjoyed over a million views to date. Co-writer and star, Lewis Ian Bray is a neurodivergent actor and writer involved in a new Channel 4 drama series titled Patience. Lewis was awarded the ShortShort Film Festival International Best Actor award in Tokyo for his performance in Ryan Can’t Read.
