Inspiring Liverpool-based drama RYAN CAN’T READ qualifies for the 97th Academy® Awards

Director and co-writer Rhys Chapman first came onto the scene with Wonderkid. The short film campaign challenging homophobia in football. The project first gained widespread attention after launching a crowdfunding campaign with the help and support of Sir Ian McKellen. Wonderkid premiered at the Raindance Film Festival before receiving its television debut with Sky Sports. After holding over 100 screenings with organizations in football, including one special underground LGBT event in Russia. The film was launched online and has enjoyed over a million views to date. Co-writer and star, Lewis Ian Bray is a neurodivergent actor and writer involved in a new Channel 4 drama series titled Patience. Lewis was awarded the ShortShort Film Festival International Best Actor award in Tokyo for his performance in Ryan Can’t Read.

James Nelson-Joyce is a British actor from Liverpool known for his powerful on-screen presence and compelling portrayals in both TV and film. Born and raised in Merseyside, he began acting at a young age and is widely recognized for his performances in popular British TV dramas. Including The Outlaws, where he starred alongside Christopher Walken and Stephen Merchant. And, Time in which he acted alongside Sean Bean and Stephen Graham. He has also appeared in The Vurtues a critically acclaimed series by director Shane Meadows. Where his raw performance brought him significant acclaim. Joyce will also star in the upcoming Disney+ original A Thousand Blows as well as the upcoming season of Black Mirror.

From producer Bryony Pulizzi previous work includes 2022 BAFTA shortlisted Roy from Academy Award® winning production company Slick Films. Bryony is currently in post-production with projects from director Shane Meadows. Executive Producers include Oscar-winning duo Chris Overton and Rachel Shenton.
