Travel, take myself out of the daily routine every now and then to not suffocate myself when things seem to pile up. Spend quality time with people and also with myself.
How do you prepare for a role, when you get it?
Rocio de la Grana (RG): I read the script fully, I write my lines down, I memorize them and say them out loud, with no emotions. I think It’s about trying different things until you feel the most accurate one.
How do you stay fresh on a production set?
Rocio de la Grana (RG): Anyone who works on set knows there’s a lot of waiting, especially for actors. Between takes i like to socialize with the people I’m working with. If we have a long shoot day and I have the chance to rest, I do that. Buy most of the time I keep reading the script, over and over. You’ll find something new every time you read it. When the character is pretty heavy i rather be in a different room, focusing on my emotions and connecting with my character.

Rocio de la Grana (RG): In the last short film I did, in one of the scenes, I had a lot of actions and moves to make, which sometimes it’s tricky because you have to remember them accordingly your intentions, camera moves, lightning, etc. A few moments prior the first take, the director explain to me the moves I needed to make, but very briefly. I had it right in the first shot and he got surprised because I remembered everything. He communicated really well with me because he knew what he wanted and I connected with that. it’s great when that happens because the director already knows how you work and how you take directions.
