Bushbaby aired on one of the largest and impactful channels in the urban community, Revolt TV. Bushbaby was seen at festivals such as New Black Voices, Tide Ilm Festival, Black Harvest and many more; it’s now come to a screen in your home. As a way to shed light on rising short filmmakers, Revolt TV choose Tarik Jackson’s comedy.
Synopsis: Over the course of his first summer after college SIMBA falls in love with a stripper, spends a night in jail and almost ruins the family business. Through comedic interactions with old friends, elders and the police, Simba learns adult life in the new Gentrified Brooklyn.

Through comedic interactions with old friends, elders, and the police, Simba learns just what adult life in the new Gentrified Brooklyn really is.
Bushbaby was created with a goal to be an anchor for the conversation on gentrification.
Witnessing what the death of Trayvon Martin did to the country – generally the black community – brought Tarik to a realization that his culture is not aware of how ruptured our unity really is. This will be the therapy

After completing his Master’s program Tarik co-created, directed and co-wrote CLASS, an eight episode original series that premiered on YouTube. Since its release in July of 2015 the series has been viewed over 1,200,000 times. Tarik was selected to be apart of Ryan Murphy’s (creator GLEE, American Horror Story, American Crime Story) half foundation, where Tarik shadowed on an episode of Scream Queens in the fall of 2016. Tarik also shadowed Oz Rodriguez on two episodes of Saturday Night Live in the spring of 2017.
Tarik is represented by Jermaine Johnson at 3 arts entertainment. Tarik is currently in pre-production, on his directorial feature film debut “bushbaby”,about gentrification in his hometown in Brooklyn. The proof of Concept Short for Bushbaby has played at the New Voices in Black Cinema film festival, the Indie Night Festival, Black Harvest Film Festival and the TIDE film festival.
