Loki Ojha is known for his work on Don’t Ever Tell 2 (2016), To the Top (2016) and The Other Side of the Rainbow, Slipping Into the Darkness (2016).

I like to work with a process, I do so if I am working on a music video, or film short of a feature. Writing and production are two items in the process of filmmaking that lead to marketing and this journey can be a challenge every individual in this industry will face.

indieactivity: Did you start writing with a cast (You or any) in mind?
Loki Ojha (LO): I started with the story which led to a cast. I didn’t go the other way round. I hired after the script came through.

When did you form your production company?
Loki Ojha (LO): I was laid of work at Samsung and “sometimes your life shatters in a way that you either get blind or get wise.” So, I decided to work on my skill set and I went ahead with a freelancing

What was the first project out of the gate?
Loki Ojha (LO): The first project is a music video called Devil Share (Share for death ), it is based on the story of betrayal and revenge. The main character in the story is Loki, who is found dead, killed by his friend. His friend killed him out of envy of his wife and financial gain. The soul of the dead man (Loki) then reappears to avenge his death. The music video includes dance, music, VFX effects and animation.

During production, what scene (that made the cut) was the hardest to shoot?
Loki Ojha (LO): For me every step was challenging, from principal photography (chroma-key shooting) to editing, the inclusion of animation and SFX was not a cake walk.

Is there anything about the independent filmmaking business you still struggle with?
Loki Ojha (LO): The struggle is the same with independent filmmakers, we all want to bring a brilliant idea to screen, be it web, TV, or cinema. So, my will be the same, its always a struggle to bring an idea to screen, I live in that space. It gets easier though.

Where do you think your strengths line as a filmmaker?
Loki Ojha (LO): I think limitation is an advantage that can be taken as a strength. I respond to limitations as a normal process, I welcome it, and in the end it proves the material.

How important is marketing? Do you think a project can make any dent without it these days?
Loki Ojha (LO): Indeed I think it is very important and every filmmaker needs to understand marketing. Either you need to get a job or project a job. If you can make a good film is great if you can yell about it as best as you can.

Can you tell us about your marketing activities on the project – and how it’s gone for you?
Loki Ojha (LO): Back when I worked with Samsung India, I was CG artist but after I made my first music video, I wore many hats: I was creative director, producer and the promoter. Which is the same scenario on this new music video.
