Wassim Geagea ’s Omé (My Mother) focuses on a young boy who questions his faith after struggling to cope with the death of his mother, leading to devastating consequences. This insightful film which addresses religion in the Middle East won the Best Fiction Award at this year’s Tampere Film Festival and the Silver Star Award for Best Short Film at the 2019 El Gouna Film Festival in Egypt. Omé was scheduled to screen at Huesca International Film Festival but due to the Coronavirus outbreak, this festival happened online back in June.
Synopsis: Following the death of his mother, 9-year-old Elias goes to extreme lengths to naively bring her back from Jesus’ heaven all while defying his faith.
Director Wassim Geagea is a young Lebanese filmmaker who studied Cinema at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Lebanese University before pursuing a Master’s Degree in Film Directing at St. Joseph University in Beirut. His first short film My Grandfather’s Photo was screened in many film festivals and won the first prize in European films festival in Lebanon in 2012. Omé is his second short, which addresses his own personal experience with the death of his mother. Geagea is currently writing his first feature film Barka.

Producer Gaby Zarazir was born, raised and is currently living in Lebanon. Zarazir always had the life goal of becoming a producer and has always been interested in mixing two or more contrasting ideas to achieve a new quality, innovative perspective and original theme.
Cinematographer Nassim Geagea has worked closely with local and foreign directors on several films. He began his career as Best Boy Lighting and Best Boy Grip and continued to become a freelance focus puller on many music videos and commercials for a number of production houses. In the last few years, Nassim has worked as a Director of Photography on short films, documentaries and TV Shows in Lebanon and abroad.
This film has already screened at 9 prestigious film festivals including Tampere Film Festival, El Gouna Film Festival, the Festival International du Cinéma Méditerranéen de Montpellier in France and Interfilm Berlin International Short Film Festival and was also scheduled to screen at this years Bermuda International Film Festival, International Film Festival of Uruguay, Richmond International Film Festival but due to the Coronavirus outbreak, these festivals were postponed or cancelled.
Madame Le Tapis is a young production house based in Lebanon, founded by the Zarazir Brothers in 2018. With the experience of making short films repeatedly awarded at film festivals in all continents (except Antarctica), they develop and produce multimedia projects across various art mediums.
