Odd Dog is an animated, family-comedy film by first-time filmmaker Keika Lee who is also its Writer, Director and Producer. Odd Dog is a short film, with a runtime of 4 minutes 30 seconds, completed July 31, 2019 on a production budget of $20,000 by an independent group of filmmakers at Greyscale Animation North America, United States.
Synopsis: A young boy pleads with his mother to get him a dog but his mother prefers a cat. Years later, the boy runs into what looks like a cat on the street. Can the cat win the boy over with his crazy dog-like antics and become the boy’s “odd dog”?

About Keika Lee is the producer, director and writer and has always had a special place in her heart for animation. Growing up she dreamed of being an animator but later fell in love with working in production. Keika has worked in the film and game industry for 15 years as a Producer and Project Manager for such companies as Electronic Arts, DreamWorks Animation and The Orphanage. Her credits include Shrek the Third, Madagascar 2, Megamind and Iron Man.
Director Statement | As a female filmmaker and a child at heart, I believe any dream can come true as long as you put your mind to it and follow through with enthusiasm.
Every great story is told from the heart and this one is no different. The film is based on a real life relationship between the filmmaker’s son and his dog-like cat. The film is a 5-minute black and white hand drawn animated film. It is a silent film so that people all over the world can enjoy it no matter what their language or background.
The film was a major collaborative effort as it was done remotely meaning every artist and designer worked from their own home/studio. The fim was funded mostly by Kickstarter and IndieGoGo campaigns while the rest was funded personally by the Keika Lee.
