Mukbanger – The incredibly poignant film highlights the dangers of social media
Los Angeles, CA (Oct. 14, 2023). Director Hugo Becker’s MUKBANGER takes being an influencer to an uncomfortable edge. We follow social media phenomenon Mika on his journey to becoming the next best thing in the world of mukbangs. However the more he pushes himself the more life threatening it becomes for his health both physical and mental. This incredibly terrifying short has qualified to be considered for the 2024 Academy® Awards.
“Mika is an influencer, working exclusively on making YouTube videos. With his ruthless partner, Yanis, he manages an account with more than 3 million subscribers. This is with an average of 500,000 views per videos. He is a Mukbanger. He makes videos where he ingests a maximum of food in a minimum of time. The more the consumption is pushed to the point of discomfort, the more the number of views increases. The more popular Mika is and the closer he gets to his dreams of glory and wealth. But Mika also suffers from morbid obesity. His sister Solène will do everything to persuade him to give up this practice which threatens his health.”
