London, UK. John Swab, the writer and director of grim and gritty crime dramas like Candy Land, and Body Brokers returns with Little Dixie. Swab Fans will recognize more than a few familiar faces, including his frequent collaborator Frank Grillo. Who is once again taking a lead role. Little Dixie deals with desperate people doing desperate things in a grim and often gray-ishly moral world full of violent gangs with drugs.
Logline: Frank Grillo (The Purge: Anarchy and The Purge: Election Year) and Eric Dane (Euphoria) star in this action-packed revenge thriller. When a deal goes wrong between a corrupt governor and a ruthless drug lord, ex-special forces operative Doc (Grillo) is caught in the crosshairs. Now, with his family in danger, Doc must take down the Mexican drug cartel and do whatever it takes to protect the one good thing in his life – his young daughter, “Little Dixie”.

Paramount released the trailer for Little Dixie on December 15, 2022. The trailer seats heavily on the mood of the movie. It is far more giving than just introducing the characters or the plot. It quick cuts and a intense soundtrack work the grim cinematography into to create a feeling of unease. The extreme violence that the cartel members are capable of is clearly displayed, as is the vulnerability of Doc and his family.
Little Dixie premiered at the Rotterdam International Film Festival back in January 28th, 2023. It will opened in select US theaters a few days later, from February 3.
