We looked at those movies as really about the Bush presidency, and so we had to wait for the world to change
Matt Damon is all geared up for the fifth installment of Jason Bourne. After an 8-year break from the franchise, Jason Bourne will resurface in a new world, that the actor termed “Post-Snowden”. Although Jason Bourne dissapered at the end of The Bourne Ultimatum, Jeremy Renner pick up the character in The Bourne Legacy, but Matt will jump into production of his fourth Jason Bourne film since 2007.
“We always looked at those movies as really about the Bush presidency, and so we kind of had to wait for the world to change,” Damon said of the lag time between films during an interview about his upcoming movie The Martian. “What does the character have to say?”
“Without giving too much of it away, it’s Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world,” Damon said. “It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy.”
As principal photography kicks off, actors Tommy Lee Jones and Alicia Vikander (Ex-Machina) are joining the cast with Julia Styles reprising her role as ex-CIA agen Nicky Parsons. The story will span Greece to Las Vegas and open in the UK and US on June 29, 2016
