Ever since I was a child I always had the desire to act and model, even though I didn’t know how to go about getting into it without my parents assisting me or scouting areas out for me. I would always get together with my siblings pretending I was on stage or on tv performing, lol. When I reached high school I finally felt a relief because I thought I had the opportunity to get into drama but before I knew it my parents transferred me to a charter school which focused on technology. Since the high school I attended had no drama classes I turned towards tv production which I exceeded in. After graduating I focused on modeling and later started attending Carole Gordon Acting Class which I continue as of now
indieactivity: How did you become an actor?
Nikia: I became an actor through my first cold read in my acting class with LA Based Acting Coach/ SAG/AFTRA Carole Gordon. Throughout my acting classes and working on different projects I learned networking is key. Getting out there and auditioning daily, sometimes you may get no sleep but at the end it’s all worth it.
indieactivity: What acting technique do you use?
Nikia: the acting technique I learned to use to memorize my lines is to read your script like a book and right your lines, old school is always new school, lol. My acting coach taught me to become one with your character, even if it means going to where your character life takes place meaning study your character, have a life for your character by knowing how your character life begin and where does it end.
indieactivity: What wrong impressions do actors hold about acting?
Nikia: wrong expressions actors hold about acting is that it’s easy, or you can do it within a day or so. No acting is practice, practice, practice lol. I sleep, eat, and read this industry literally.

Nikia: Yes, I do attend courses to improve my craft.

Nikia: Respect for Acting by Uta Hagen
indieactivity: How do you keep fit as an actor?
Nikia: Staying fit as an actor is a lifestyle: mentally, I keep in mind of my goals and my family. No matter how many times I hear no I push myself to greatness. Physically, physique wise is my motivation it reminds me that I can do anything and become any actor
indieactivity: How do you prepare for a role, when you get it
Nikia: I consistently go over my script reading it like a book. I usually rehearse looking into a mirror so I can pay attention to my face expressions
indieactiivty: How do you create a character from a script into a person?
NIkia: I try to think where does this character come from as in background, and I create a childhood for the character, and build a background from there until the characters present age.
indieactivity: How do you stay fresh on set?
Nikia: I remind myself who my character is and why I’m there, on set.
indieactivity: What do you want most from a director?
Nikia: I mostly want a director have the ability to bring hi or her vision to life
