There are just some people who right from their childhood know exactly what they want from a career, and this couldn’t be truer for British Sensation and Starlet Tanyel Jasmine Kabay! This young vivacious, versatile and charismatic actress is the only name being thrown around Hollywood’s film industry at the moment, and a name we won’t be forgetting anytime soon !

Tanyel Jasmine hails from the prestigious University Of The Arts London and performing schools such as The International School of Screen Acting and RADA where she was classically trained as an actress, Tanyel got into performing at a young age when she was discovered as a child model for a number of international modelling brands, and was later signed to several Prolific Modelling agencies, This Incredibly talented performer has created a name for herself in the film and theatrical industry, she has shown excellence in all areas of entertainment.

What acting technique do you use
I’m inspired by a number of acting techniques, I have been trained in the art of ‘ The Stella Adler technique ‘ whilst living here in LA, which is Method acting Drawing upon real emotions and experiences, also I am hugely influenced by the ‘ Stanislavski’s ‘ system, His approach incorporates spiritual realism, emotional memory, dramatic, self-analysis, and disciplined practice.

What wrong impressions do actors hold about acting
I believe some young actors approach this industry with the wrong idealisation of what an actor should be! Acting is an art form and we are here to portray a believable justified realism of character and provide our viewers with escapism!

Do you take courses to improve your craft
I’m a great believer in taking classes and workshops to improve and strengthen my craft, I also have private coaching by a distinguished and renowned Acting coach Filiz Daniels

How do you keep fit as an actor
living in Los Angeles provides me with great reasons to keep fit physically and mentally, as I’m surrounded by some amazing hiking trails, gyms and personal trainers, I love nothing more than going for walks with my dog on my days off. My diet can vary depending on roles and auditions but I tend to eat a lot of protein and stir clear of carbs and dairy, I’m very lucky to have a Mediterranean background as most meals consist of fresh vegetables, fruits and seafood! Although sometimes nothing can beat a cheesy pizza and chocolate cake!

When you’re offered a role, what do you do next
Well I guess all actors are different, but when I have secured a role the character never leaves me, each day I prepare for the role mentally and physically on and of script! I try to somehow incorporate the characters personality into my daily life and situations. Some may argue this is a muted version of ‘method acting’ and perhaps that’s true. I like to challenge myself and abilities and weirdly get a kick out of secretly living a scene I’ve created for myself and then I’m able to critique it for the real thing.

How do you stay fresh on set
I’m very fortunate to work with such creative geniuses whilst on set, having great crew members and other cast members makes staying in character and keeping the role fresh and believable easy

Explain one creative choice you took on set
One memorable example of how I’ve interpreted the director’s direction is when I was on set of ‘ The Secret world’ where I played the lead role of an alien enforcer ( think Hunger Games meets Twilight) the director had originally envisioned the character to be quite stilted but as an actor sometimes little direction is given when auditing for a role on purpose as some directors like to see what you can bring to the table! I saw this character in a complete different way and the director fell in love with my interpretation. This was a memorable character for me!

What do you want most from a director
As an actress it’s important to have a director that allows you some level of freedom when portraying a role! however I’m always conscious and respectful of their vision and work very closely with him / her and the writers to develop and bring to life the an amazing adaptation of the role

What actors do you long to work with
Johnny Depp is an amazing actor, to be able to work with him would be such an amazing accomplishment, I grew up watching films like Edward Scissor Hands

Why
I have grown up watching him grow. He gives so much to each role. Obviously I respect so many actors and actresses but I have always had a tendency to be drawn to leo’s roles. I think he would just be a very progressive and positive person and professional to be around.

What advice would you give to actors
My advice for aspiring actors would be to know your art and challenge yourself creatively and believe in yourself above everything else
