Wednesday in Space is the directorial feature debut film of English filmmaker, Hudson Hughes based in Reading, England. The film is an independently made “Zero-Budget” feature made in one week by two dozen people who gathered to create this strange and funny film.
After spending a month on production design (they called construction), the entire film was shot within the a week on nothing but a shoestring budget save for the cost of costume and set. “The unique blend of improv and sleep deprivation is what lends Wednesday in Space its signature flavour,” Hudson Hughes.
Hudson Hughes Films has announced the Official Trailer (see below) for Hudson Hughes’ debut feature WEDNESDAY IN SPACE; a no-budget, lo-fi, sci-fi extravaganza making waves on the international festival circuit. The film follows Lucha Flax (Bella Norris) as a traffic cop who finds herself violently thrust into a murder investigation, in a diner, in outer-space. With francophone rebels on the one hand and shady government spooks on the other, Lucha is no detective but she’s the only one for the job, and possibly the only one who cares.
With multiple awards from International Film Festivals alongside a host of official selections; this is inarguably the best film ever made in a reasonably-sized garage. Borne from a love of old-school VFX and the frenetic, highly physical comedies of the 70’s, WEDNESDAY IN SPACE is unique not only for its zany visuals and mile-a-minute pace, but for its standing as a no-budget sci-fi film, a genre traditionally cornered by studios with deep pockets and international reach.
