BAFTA Nominated E4 series provides answers to questions teens are afraid to ask

Los Angeles, CA (April 25, 2023). The EMMY award winning and BAFTA nominated production company The Corner Shop’s provocative series How To Be A Person shares stories that radically reimagine adolescence as an era of self-acceptance. The short form series tackles issues like abortion, masturbation, addiction, and sexuality in a bold, ground-breaking, and culturally inclusive way. The series answers questions that many teenagers are afraid to ask.
Logline: Provocative stories about being a teenager, from sex and sexuality to bodies and abortion, that radically reimagine adolescence as an era of self-acceptance – not self-loathing.
How To Be A Person nominees include Anna Hashmi, Sindha Agha, Samira Mian, Anne Perri and Tobi Kyeremateng. The series is under commission by Channel 4 for E4.
Episodes include How To Quit Your Porn Addiction (when you are 12), How To Masturbate (without breaking your dick), How To Kiss Another Boy (when you’re both definitely straight), How To Lose Your Virginity (to a stranger on the internet), and How To Get An Abortion (when you’re Muslim)”.

Anna Hashmi is the Emmy Award Winning, and BAFTA nominated Founder of The Corner Shop. Growing up in London with a south Asian father, and Danish mother has influenced Hashmi. It has influenced her storytelling roots, and passion for championing female and culturally diverse stories and filmmakers. A 2-week work experience opportunity for director Tony Kaye, led to Anna moving into commercial production.
Working on big advertising campaigns from the UK to the US. Where she moved to LA, and set up her own production company in 2013, and returned to open a London office in 2021. Establishing the company in commercial production, she returned to scripted narrative, and documentary. The work she under her production is goes at the BAFTA’s, Television Academy, Cannes Lion, AFI Fest and more.
Sindha Agha is a BAFTA and Emmy-nominated director, writer & visual artist. Her viral, vibrant work uses comedy to explore pain through an absurdist yet tender tone. It is pulls heavy influence from her Sindhi heritage and Midwestern upbringing. She kicked off her career by writing & directing Birth Control Your Own Adventure“. Which is under acquisition by The New York Times, and is under nomination for a 2019 News & Documentary Emmy. Sindha has been awarded 2 separate Sundance Institute fellowships, won the Cannes Lions Gold Young Director Award and more.
The British Academy Television Awards will hold on 14th May 2023.
