This topical film highlights the unequal treatment of immigrants in America and was due to premiere at the newly cancelled Tribeca Film Festival.
Storyline: In near-term future America, the word “citizen” has come to define a narrower portion of the population, and elite corruption goes unchecked. A luxury condo begins the day, staged as an open house to lure wealthy buyers, but by night becomes a brief refuge for a family targeted by immigration enforcement.
Alejandra Parody’s NYU thesis-film, Rosa, was awarded the Wasserman King Prize Award and recognized as a finalist for the NBCUniversal Short Film Festival. It also received the honor of Best Student Film at the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at The Cannes Film Festival. Alejandra’s narrative and commercial work has screened at festivals worldwide and been featured in high profile media.
Gets Good Lights Producer and Composer Elizabeth Phillipson-Weiner’s award winning films have screened at festivals worldwide. Her passion for storytelling and musical background have led her down the unique path of pursuing both disciplines equally. Two shorts she produced, Welcome (dir. Serena Dykman 2015) and Rosa (dir. Alejandra Parody 2016), won first prize at the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival.
In 2018, Elizabeth produced and wrote the music for a fundraising video for the non-profit Emily’s Entourage, starring Broadway’s Javier Muñoz, Laura Osnes and more raising funds for Cystic Fibrosis research. Her most recent short that she produced and scored has been selected in competition at the Tribeca Film Festival 2020. As a composer, Elizabeth’s music has been played at film festivals worldwide, including the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner, Hollyshorts, Urbanworld Film Festival, and The Tribeca Film Festival, 2020.
