Los Angeles, CA – October 13, 2021 – Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group/Entertainment Studios, has acquired North American VOD rights to the dramedy feature film, SEX AND A GIRL. Now celebrating the twentieth anniversary of its initial theatrical release, Sex and A Girl will be available to rent and own on North American digital HD internet, cable, and satellite platforms on October 26, 2021, through Freestyle Digital Media.
Sex and A Girl is a 1970s coming-of-age dramedy about a teenage girl with dreams of becoming a ballerina while struggling with the divorce of her kooky parents. It is 1979, and sixteen-year-old Alex is a senior in high school. All her friends are losing their virginity, and she is being pressured to join the club. Meanwhile, Alex’s family is falling apart. Their house, which is more like a commune than a home, begins to unravel. Alex’s mother and father separate, and her mother and best friend, Clarice, goes off the deep end sexually. She begins exploring lots of new relationships with different men.

Written and directed, and produced by filmmaker Drew Ann Rosenberg, Sex and A Girl was produced by Drew Ann Rosenberg, Robert Hays, and John Walcutt. Sex and A Girl features an ensemble cast, including Soleil Moon Frye (‘Alissa’), Alison Lohman (‘Camelia’), Angela Gots (‘Alex’), Sean Flynn (‘Scott’), Genevieve Bujold (‘Natalie’), Robert Hays (‘Dan’), and Ellen Greene (‘Clarice’).
