London, United Kingdom, March 2, 2018 – The award winning short film Falsified has been picked up by ShortsTV on a 3 year distribution deal, that covers North America and Europe.

The film, Falsified, which is written and produced by actor Ashley Tabatabai, follows the journey of a man whose son was stolen at birth and who is now convinced he has found his long lost child. Falsified  is inspired by Spain’s Stolen Babies Scandal (Los Niños Robados). Something that very few people seem to know about. “The most common response we’ve had since the film started it’s festival run is one of people apologizing that they had no idea this scandal happened“, says Tabatabai. The actual events spanned from the 1930’s to the early 1990’s, with children taken from their birth parents and sold to other families for a profit. Close to 300,000 estimated cases have been reported.

Falsified premiered at the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival in August 2017 and has also screened at DC Shorts and the London Lift Off Festival, amongst others. It’s won best short film at the LA Shorts Awards and both Tabatabai and his co-star Mitchell Mullen have won various best actor accolades for their performances; at events such as the Top Shorts film festival and the Actors Awards.

“It’s great that we have this platform on ShortsTV for the film to reach more people and for awareness to be raised about the scandal”, said Tabatabai. Who, is quick to point out that the short is inspired by the events, yet very much focused around the fictional story of the two characters, in an exploration of the humanity of the situation.

Moving forward, the team behind Falsified are working on a slate of new shorts and feature films. And Tabatabai is in the process of developing a feature film version of Falsified to bring to the big screen.
