Mark Schoonmaker is making his feature directorial debut this summer with horror sci-fi drama ‘Pitch Black Heist‘. Here’s his latest crime drama short film he helmed years ago starring Steve Wilcox (Swamp Thing, The Liberator) and Stefan Rollins (Powers, Cloak & Dagger). And get a sense of his visual style. Schoonmaker mentioned: “I wanted to make a unique and fresh take on the revenge/crime drama movies with a noir element to it with a tone similar to films such as Death Sentence, The Usual Suspects & Seven.”
“Gridlock” is a mystery crime drama about Floyd Tanager, a paranoid individual, who embarks on a life-changing journey to seek revenge. Floyd’s patience and sanity are tested as he desperately struggles to find a man known as ‘The Sphinx,’ who is responsible for the death of his younger brother.
With GRIDLOCK, his noir crime drama his latest short film done and entered 2019 film festivals, Schoonmaker has been extremely busy with several projects, developing A Touch of Evil, his long awaited coming-of-age drama mystery feature which was originally called “Mordy.”

We are thrilled to interview him about his new drama feature, Pitch Black Heist he’s producing and his period drama piece, Castlemont he will direct soon. Mark talks extensively about his childhood growing up in the ’90s, personal experiences, music and a meaningful meeting he had with actor, Ethan Hawke.
