Darien Sills-Evans' One Bedroom selected for Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema

Darien Sills-Evans’ comedic feature One Bedroom has just begun its festival run and is already winning awards, having snapped up the Best Brooklyn Project at Brooklyn Film Festival and Best Feature at Film Invasion L.A. It played as the opening night film at CineOdyssey Film Festival among other festivals. The film stars Darien Sills-Evans (Person of Interest) who has been nominated for Best Actor in Austin Revolution Film Festival, and Best Director in Madrid International Film Festival and newcomer Devin Nelson who won the Breakout Performance Award at International Filmmakers Festival of New York (IFFNY).

Breaking up is easy. Moving out is hard. After five years of ups and downs, an African American 30-something couple in a gentrifying Brooklyn neighborhood spends their final afternoon together arguing and remember better days, as one of them moves out and hopefully on with her life.

Director, Writer and Actor Darien Sills-Evans is a triple threat, who rose to fame through shows like Superior Donuts and Treme. Sills-Evans is a Brooklyn Native who has written, produced and directed award-winning films including X-Patriots and Rivers Wash Over Me.

Producer Devin Williams is no stranger to romantic comedies as his feature debut as a producer came with his work on Big Words. He also worked on a 2016 feature Wild Men and short films Sweet Tea and Cadillac Black.

Devin Nelson is a New York Native whose television credits include supporting roles on the OWN Network as well as a pilot called Dry Time. She is also nominated for Best Actress at Austin Revolution Film Festival. The cast also includes Stephen Hill whose notable credits include the upcoming film Widows, CBS New Magnum P.I, and Marvel’s Luke Cage and Chester Sims II who appeared in Law & Order, Grey’s Anatomy, Dirty Sexy Money and Switched At Birth.

One Bedroom won Best Comedy Feature at Manhattan Film Festival and Best Director at Las Vegas Black Film Festival. It has been selected to play at numerous film festivals such as Long Island International Film Expo, Madrid International Film Festival on July 24th, Hip Hop Film Festival on August 4th, Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema on August 6th, DC Black Film Festival on August 16th-18th, Black Harvest Film Festival on August 26th and 27th and at Austin Revolution Film Festival in September.
