Watch the premiere of the blistering first trailer to DeadZone.
Leroy Kincaide first broke through with the acclaimed fan film Max Payne Retribution. Despite having a shoestring budget, the writer-director, who also played a supporting role within the film, achieved the incredible feat of not only outstripping the 2008 studio version but also the near-impossible by making a critically acclaimed great video game movie.
The 2017 film garnered high praise from many well-known taste-making websites such as Machinima, Den of Geek, Screen Rant, and ComicBook.com.
For his next project Leroy Kincaide decided to prove what he could do in a completely different genre. Fuelled by a love of The Walking Dead, he set out to make his own zombie short DeadZone. The film, which was filmed in Maidstone, Kent, on a total budget of only £400, began life as a showreel piece to advertise Leroy’s comfort in different genres, but it quickly evolved into a fully-fledged short delved into the richness and depth of the story and world.
As a genre, horror has always been fertile ground for indie filmmakers, and Leroy Kincaide fits the bill thanks to his work on DeadZone. Not only has he drawn on a variety of influences, he has also proved that he stands among horror icons like John Carpenter when it comes to creating a riveting story with very little resources.
DeadZone, which was selected for the London Independent Film Festival screened on the 14th April, is the product of Nocturnal Pictures. Founded by Leroy Kincaide and his producing partner Chloe Chudasama, Nocturnal Pictures specialises in telling dark horror narratives that crawl under the skin and haunt your mind for weeks after.
DeadZone is only the latest project from this ambitious and talented group, with a planned horror feature film called “Facility 7” which is heavily in development.
DeadZone is due for release October 2018 after the festival circuit, with the potential of it being developed into a web series…. Stay Tuned.
