Clarity, Award-winning Short by Roy Arwas focuses on the Turbulent father-son Relationship

Roy Arwas’s Clarity shares the story of a man who confronts his abusive father over his past actions. This film has already screened at Mammoth Film Festival 2020 where it won the Grand Jury Award for Short Film & Best Actor, it won the Best Student Film Award at both Houston WorldFest 2020 and at the Global Impact Awards 2020. Clarity screened online for the 2020 Indy Shorts International Film Festival – Heartland Film back in July.

Synopsis: After serving 10 years in the Marines, Tom returns home to find out that his estranged abusive father, Richard, who has Alzheimer’s, does not remember him.

Director Roy Arwas is a British-Israeli filmmaker who has won over twenty festival awards and is a student Emmy nominee. Most recently, Roy produced, wrote, directed, and edited Clarity and in 2013 co-founded an independent production company Gearmark Pictures which created viral content on YouTube, leading to a sponsorship deal with Thunder Studios.

One of the most notable videos Arwas created was Gym Wildlife where he served as writer, director, and editor. It has received 40 million views and worldwide recognition from websites like FOX, Unilad, and Buzzfeed. He has become an in-house Editor for SidLee; one of Hollywood’s leading creative agencies, where he edits short trailers for upcoming Netflix Films, Amazon Films, and Theatrical Films.

He is also a First Assistant Director for music videos for artists such as Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla Sign, Tyga, and Timbaland. Arwas has worked in key positions for over 40 short films, commercials, Music Videos and is creating content and developing TV shows and feature films for socially relevant and important stories.

The cast includes Chris Browning (Bright) and Brett Zimmerman (Hawaii Five-O)

Producer Tiffany Kontoyiannis-Guillen is a published playwright, student Emmy Nominated Director, HBO Semi-Finalist, Miami Herald Silver Knight Winner, and has been recognized for her work in film. Tiffany is also known for her anti-bullying work and organization. She has appeared on MSNBC, NBC, TV Venezuela, and CBS to speak about her anti-bullying and how the visual arts can be used to create change.

Keeping this passion in mind, Tiffany began creating films that brought inspiring, engaging, and important topics to light. Alongside Roy Arwas, her most recent projects have been devoted to telling Latinx, female, and unique stories in hopes of further diversifying the industry.

Cinematographer Becky Baihui Chen started working as a photographer for the UCLA yearbook and explored filmmaking at several student film groups such as Delta Kappa Alpha and International Students Film Association, where she was first introduced to film sets. Cinematography is where she found her passion for filmmaking as she worked on numerous projects at USC in the past few years, including narrative shorts, music videos, commercials, and documentaries.
