June 24, 2022 – Writer, producer & director Eric Garson has launched the IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign for his debut feature film, The Middleman.
The film is set in Eric’s hometown of Reading. The film features an ensemble cast and crew from the Reading & Thames Valley Region of the UK. Including Elliot Cable, Emily Anne Jack, Gareth James, Steve Overton, Tanya Beckett, Matthew Nakatani-Brown, Joseph Deacon, Paul Dewdney, Laura Arbelaez, Spencer Allum, Lampros Kalfuntzos, Katarina Martin, Reis Daniel, Tony Deufemia & Rico Morris.
Story: The Middleman is about a young mechanic called Terry. Who’s best friend is murdered, leaving Terry with his last procession, a suitcase of drugs. A police investigation begins into the murder. In the following days, Terry is threatened by a gangster to hand over the drugs or face the same fate as his fallen friend.

Whilst the crew includes Sophie Marchant (Sound Recordist & Sound Editor), Kara Lovejoy (1st AD), Rebecca Lily Robinson (Make-Up Artist), Rod Ramsey (Unit Stills Photographer) Krzysztof Rodzik (Cinematographer), Ana-Marai Iscru (1st AC) & Chas Hockin (BTS Videographer.).
The Middleman is about a young man called Terry, whose best friend Bradley is found murdered. Bradley leaves Terry with his last remaining possession, a suitcase of drugs. News of Terry’s procession reaches a local gangster who threatens Terry to hand over the drugs or face the same fate as his fallen friend. The film touches on themes of love, violence, revenge, anger, guilt, and redemption.
The film has taken a year and a half the preparation including scriptwriting, storyboarding, script breakdowns, casting, re-writes, crew allocation, scheduling, budgeting, read-throughs, and location scouting. But the film is now ready for production. All that’s needed is the micro-budget to make the film a reality. An IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign is LIVE.
The Middleman team is aiming for a limited regional theatrical release in the UK followed by an online VOD platform release. Eric has previously directed nine short films and written eight feature film screenplays. Eric hopes the independent production will create an evocative and moving film, about lost aspirations that haunt our lives.
