Paul Komadina’s live-action short Abduction focuses on a woman who tries to retrace her steps after waking up in the middle of nowhere. This film won the 2020 CinefestOZ Audience Choice Award at Cinefest Oz and screened at the Oscar-qualifying Atlanta Film Festival in September.
Synopsis: After waking up in a field with no memory of how she got there, Mathilda reckons strange visions and marks on her body with the trail of judgment and cruelty that follows.
Director Paul Komadina is an award-winning filmmaker who began directing commercials and quickly became one of Perth’s hottest Ad Directors. In Television, Paul has directed episodes of children’s adventure series Trapped and Castaway as well as the cult film show, The Devil’s Classroom. Komadina self-financed his own micro-budget feature The Director’s Cut which played at multiple international film festivals, garnered several WA screen awards, and gained US distribution.

Producer Cody Greenwood is the Founder and Managing Director of RUSH, a production company based in Perth. Cody has produced documentary and short films which have garnered international acclaim at festivals. In 2018 she was selected for the Screen Producers Australia Ones To Watch program and produced the documentary short The Beeman which was nominated for Best Short Documentary at the ATOM awards. It was also accepted into the prestigious AmDocs Festival in Palm Springs. Greenwood is developing a feature film Fads and Miracles and is producing a 6 x 10-minute series Girl Like You, which has been funded by Screenwest and Screen Australia.
Writer Frances Elliott entered the industry as a video editor in 2011 where she spent three years in the Channel 9 newsroom. Transitioning into writing and directing in recent years, her drama work has won the Best Film and the Audience Choice Awards at Revelation Film Festival. Her factual work has been selected for multiple academy accredited film festivals including AMDocs in Palm Springs and Short Shorts Film Festival Asia. Frances is currently in post-production for her documentary Girl Like You (as the writer, director, editor), which was selected for the 2019 AIDC Factory Pitch and subsequently secured funding from Screen Australia and ScreenWest.
