World Premiered December 10th at The Big Apple Film Festival, NYC
Los Angeles, CA (December 23, 2024). Adam Kiss says, “As the writer and director of this film it was important for me to explore many of the big existential questions in our world.” He continues, “such as the meaning of life and love.”
“While I was writing the screenplay, I formed my own strong opinions on these subjects but instead of imposing those on others I wanted to leave part of the story, and its meaning, open to the interpretation of the audience. I believe very much that the viewer is an active participant in this story and has included them in the narrative by allowing them to come to their own conclusions instead of forcing a message on them. Making a thought-provoking film was one of my goals in this artistic endeavor, and ultimately, I hope that after watching the movie everyone can have their own interpretation of what it means to them,” said Adam.
Logline: After learning that his wife is going to leave him and that he doesn’t have long to live, a novelist (Kiss) isolates himself as he attempts to write his masterpiece in the seclusion of a family friend’s guest house. Once there, his failed attempt at suicide leads to him meeting a mysterious woman who changes his life forever and with whom he becomes romantically involved. As time goes by, he notices more strange and inexplicable details about her, as the lines between fantasy and reality begin to blur
“My Last Words” is a film that cannot be categorized. While it can be officially described as a touching romantic drama, at the beginning it starts out as a rom-com and becomes at various moments an intense drama, a mystery/thriller, a philosophical study and an arthouse film. It is a film that has a little something for everyone, transcending all genres and styles and is extremely unique and fresh. My primary cinematic inspirations for the film were the movies of such varied directors as Alfred Hitchcock, Ingmar Bergman, David Lean and Orson Welles. Being inspired by classic cinema, I wanted to make a film in a classic style but also add my own modern twist to it. I see the film as an exploration of life and relationships, the difference between fantasy and reality, and the different roles that we and the people we love play in our lives.”
