Young men dealing with self-destructive impulses whilst still yearning for his freedom. This compelling short has been shortlisted for the 2024 OSCARS® after a successful Festival Season. Including winning Best Live Action Short Film at the Chicago Children’s Film Festival (2022). Plus, Special Jury Prize at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (2023).

Vincent René-Lortie is a Canadian film director and screenwriter known for his grounded, dreamlike narratives. His work is a testament to purposeful and deeply personal storytelling. Work intended to make his audience reflect on themes such as mental health and childhood.
He is a graduate of Montreal’s Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. And is a member of the Young Guns ’20 class. An award ceremony dedicated to creatives under 30 from across the globe. INVINCIBLE (2022), his debut narrative short, has garnered several international accolades since it has been rewarded at Clermont-Ferrand. Most recently, Vincent has been focusing on bringing to life the experimental film LA PEAU DE L’AUTRE (2023), currently in post-production, and is developing his first feature film, YOU WERE ALWAYS AN ISLAND.

Samuel Caron is a producer and co-founder of Telescope Films, a leading Montreal-based film production company. He embarked on his collaboration with Vincent René-Lortie early in his career, producing most of his works, including music videos and experimental films.
Their collaborative efforts have been recognized at prestigious events such as the UK Music Video Awards (UKMVA) and the Juno Awards. Samuel has co-produced with iconic production companies around the world, successfully shepherding short-format films for numerous other emerging talents in Montreal and bringing them to prestigious platforms such as HBO Europe and ARTE. Driven by his passion for innovative storytelling, he currently oversees the creation of a dynamic portfolio featuring ambitious films, documentaries, and immersive experiences.
INVINCIBLE has been shortlisted for a 2024 Academy® Award after a successful campaign season both within North America, and Europe. We’ll find out on January 23 whether the film will be nominated for an Oscar®.
