What is you work routine like
As a film music composer I usually work like this: first of all I clearly present an image of the film itself, feel the emotions it evokes. I see colors and textures, which a film director uses to produce a unique film coloring. Then I start composing music – select instrument voices to clearly emphasize the film atmosphere. I compose the melody and the future music harmony. And then give it a final form.
What is your greatest inspiration
I am often inspired by the film itself. I get into the film spirit and try to feel it in reality –visit similar places, live similar emotions. Itinspiresme. I am, moreover, inspired by nature: long cross-country walks give me strength, evoke inspiration and the desire to create. So considering all of the above, I can say that I am inspired by the life itself. And, of course, by the film which needs my music.
What acting books do you read
I read a lot, I love different genres – from classics to academic literature of my job profile.
What do you do when you get a project
First I go deep into it. Then I think it over and reflect on it. Try to get its essence and sound. Then I compose music.
What are your failures and successes
My greatest success is that I compose music, the thing I most wanted in my life. I think my strong sides in film music making are: the ability to catch an emotion and then emphasize it with music, and the speed of my performance – I usually blaze away. I love my job!
