Traci Hays is Director of New Dark Comedy Blood Sweat and Cheer on Tubi April 15th (Inspired by Real Events)

Los Angeles, CA. Accomplished DGA Award-nominated director Traci Hays is celebrating the much-anticipated release of her next feature, Blood, Sweat, and Cheer. Which is slated for an April 15, 2023, release on Tubi

This thrilling dark comedy is led by the talented Tammin Sursok of ABC’s hit series Pretty Little Liars. It is sure to grip audiences as they will get a first-hand glimpse into Hays’ experimental and explorative storytelling style. The film follows a suburban divorcée masquerading as her teen daughter in a twisted attempt to make the dance squad at a local high school.

The film has a 90’s vibe meets Mean Girls with a mother-daughter twist inspired by true events! Blood, Sweat, and Cheer has all the fun of cheerleading and high school wrapped up in a dark comedy. Traci’s directorial debut, Tangled, a romantic comedy based on the series by New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Emma Chase premiered in 2022 to great success and has fueled her in creating  this fantastic new feature.

Her visual style is rooted in over a decade of production design experience working on features such as A Little White Lie starring Michael Shannon and Kate Hudson and the Emmy-nominated television series Dark/Web for Amazon Studios. Most recently, Traci was a finalist for Series Fest, Shondaland Directing Mentorship, and the Sony Pictures Television Diverse Director’s Program.

She has dedicated the last twelve years to thoughtfully studying theater alongside renowned acting coach Larry Moss and esteemed playwright John Patrick Shanley, from whom she has gained valuable insight into tangible techniques on how best to guide her actors through scenes on a moment-to-moment basis. When she’s not hard at work directing, you’ll find Traci hiking in the Glendale mountains, listening to classic jazz, and making mouth-watering cheese boards.
