Christina Yoon’s Mirror focuses on a woman with a scarred face who feels pressure from society to get plastic surgery. This eye-opening short screened at this year’s New York Shorts International Film Festival, DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival, and Woods Hole Film Festival. Mirror also screened at the Oscar-qualifying Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival in September.
Synopsis: A Korean immigrant with a severely scarred face visits a black market hospital in Queens to seek plastic surgery.

Director/Editor Christina Yoon is a Korean-American filmmaker who after graduating from NYU, worked in South Korea directing branded content for Johnnie Walker and in creative development for Korean music videos and web dramas. Christina’s short films have been official selections at numerous film festivals including Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, Fargo Film Festival, and many more. She is currently in pre-production for her Columbia thesis film, which won the prestigious Katharina Otto-Bernstein short film grant and will shoot in South Korea in 2021. Yoon likes to make stylized dramas and genre films exploring trauma, alienation, and identity.
Producer Jungyoon Kim is a Korean filmmaker with experience in internationally developing and producing narrative and documentary films. Jungyoon has worked on films that have screened at high profile film festivals such as Tribeca Film Festival, Palm Springs International Shorts, and Rhode Island International Film Festival. His previous projects have been supported by various foundations such as Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Princess Grace Foundation, Sarah Jones Film Foundation and he is also the recipient of the Hollywood Foreign Press Fellowship and the Richard Brick Award for Special Distinction in Line Producing.
Cinematographer Roland Lazarte’s work has taken him to places such as the Philippines, Taiwan, and Scotland for shorts, music videos, and spots. Primarily focused on commercial and fashion film, he seeks to bring humanistic, narrative elements to his images.
Mirror screening online for the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival from October 1st at 12 pm PST to October 31st at PST.
