Why it Matters

During the first lock down of the Covid-19 pandemic, many had been in quarantine for an extended period of time. Our team is made up of Atlanta local filmmakers who get paid for creating their art and none of us had any work because of Covid-19. So, we decided that it would be best to continue to hone our craft and make a short film project about dealing with the virus. While going through the process of creating this piece, we realized that this project would also be a great platform to raise Covid donations so 100% of proceeds will go to Covid research and relief funds.

From idiation to completion of the film, it took the team about 3 weeks of around the clock work, some of the team going several days without sleep to realize a shared vision. A production usually takes a lot more prep and post production time, but this project was a test for us.

We really pushed the boundaries of what we could do with limited funding and support during a global pandemic. We couldn’t have done any of it without the community support that we received. Knowing we had the lack of a budget, the cast & crew supported the project at no cost. We had to focus on changing the entire nature of the filmmaking process to stay distant, safe and within protocol (although at the time when we filmed in Atlanta, Georgia already decided to reopen).

Fighting Covid-19 with United Way

Our chosen charity is United Way Worldwide, who run a Covid-19 Community Response and Recovery Fund. All of the money that we raise with this project will be donated to the United Way. They will be using those funds to help families and people in need, access critical information and services like food, shelter, and more through the United Way network. Donations will provide relief to those left vulnerable by the pandemic.
